Participatory Health Research: People and families living with chronic illness: reorganizing services through participatory health research

CONFERENCE & COURSE

Presentation

There is a growing international interest in the application of participatory action research in health (PAR), a research methodology that allows the co-creation of knowledge with the target subjects of the research, enabling the creation of data aimed at problem-solving in health and fostering social change.
The international conference "People and families living with chronic illness. Reorganizing services through participatory health research", will be the introduction to the IV International Course in Participatory Health Research, to be held from January 29, 2019, and will assemble national and international experts in participatory action research and research with people and families living with chronic illness.
The 100 hours course, accredited by the International Collaboration for Participatory Health Research (ICPHR), is targeted at health professionals who aim to manage intervention projects using a Participatory Health Research approach and it is addressed to a restricted number of participants (maximum 30).

The course will enable participants to:
• (re) design projects that include the target subjects in their development (more participative);
• (re) establish indicators of process, outcomes and impact (more objective);
• better disseminate results on best practices.

Importantly, it will also provide project managers the opportunity to present/develop their intervention projects, reflecting on these projects and leaving an imprint of research and/or the possibility of joining international groups to create multicentric case studies.
